The Bethel United Church of Jesus Christ is the continuation of the great revival which began at Jerusalem on the Day of Pentecost A.D. 33, and is established "Upon the foundation of the Apostles and Prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the Chief Cornerstone" ( Acts 2:1 - 12; Eph. 1:19 - 20).
Although the true followers have been little known, yet from that time until now there always been earnest contenders for the "faith which was once delivered unto the saints". Our Church accepts as its Creed, Discipline, Rules of Order and for Doctrine the word of God as taught and revealed by the Holy Ghost (John 14:26, 1 Cor. 2;9 - 23). We believe in the unity of the Divine Being. There is but one God, in essence and in person , from whom and in whom there is a divine three fold manifestation and relationship made known as Father, Son, And Holy Ghost. As Father, God is creator, Source, Origin, and Progenitor of all that is, things and soul. He is the self-existent, omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent one.
As Son, God becomes
the perfect man that He intends all men to be like. Thus a
s
Son He redeems all men from sin. Coming into the world as man through the mystery
of the Virgin Birth. " In His own body He bore our sins" and brought redemption
through death for all mankind. As Holy Ghost , God is Regenerator and perfector
of those who believe, the Organizer and baptizer and sustainer of the church,
the Divine executor of the world. God as Father is Creator and first cause of
all existence; as Son He is Redeemer in time: and as Holy Ghost, He is Regenerator-the
Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour, and "This is true God and eternal life ".
Thus we believe that Jesus Christ was both human and divine; God manifest in the flesh, the Eternal Father made visible, apart from whom there is no God. Jesus was a unique person in attitude and attributes. He is the one of whom all the Prophets spoke about in the Old Testament era. Therefore Jehovah in the Old Testament is Jesus in the New Testament. He is the light which shone when God said "let there be light, and there was light". This same light shines into the believer's heart to reveal the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus. He was the Rock from which the Children of Israel drank, and we are still drinking from the same Rock which is Christ. He was the "manna" that came from heaven, and today we are still fasting on "manna", Jesus Body and Blood. Thus we proclaim Him as "Alpha and Omega" - the Beginning and the End. We baptize in the same name of Jesus Christ because it is Apostolic in origin and in practice (Acts 2:38;8:12 -17;10:47;19:1 - 6.) Bible students agree that the Apostles founded and gave direction to the Church of God, Jesus Christ Himself being the Chief Cornerstone.
This teaching and doctrines are the fundamental principles upon which the Church is built. According to Acts 2:38, The Apostles obeyed the command of obey the teachings of Jesus in St. Luke 24:46 - 47, also fulfilling the commission in St. Matthew 28:19, we exhort believers to obey the teachings of Jesus and the Apostles.
