Intel microprocessor: 

Intel Coporation is the predominant manufacturer of the microprocessors for PCs. It developed the world's first microprocessor in 1971.

In the 1980s it sold an x86 series of processors and in the 1990s a line of Pentium processors. Its current processor is the Pentium IV. In 2000 Intel introduced Merced, its first 64-bit chip.
