Script language: 

A high-level software language that contains English statements for commands. It is interpreted rather than compiled ahead of time. It is usually limited to specific functions used to augment the running of an application or system program. For example, spreadsheet macros and communications scripts are script languages, as is Microsoft's Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).
