"Try-before-you-buy" software that is distributed free on an honor system, trial basis through the Internet, mail-order vendors, and user groups. If the user likes it, he or she pays for it later. The software may have a built-in expiration date after which access is denied or enhancements disabled (called liteware) to prod the user to purchase it. |
